Home Based Business and Delegation

By Pavel Becker

The biggest hurdle for most entrepreneurs is learning how to successfully delegate. Often, they don't even stop to think. The business is theirs and they feel that they need to micro-manage every aspect of it-"I'm my own boss! I don't need anybody to help! I'll only ever be successful if I pour all of myself into it!"

Let's take a look at the first problem. You're right to feel that your business is your baby. You brought it into being and you alone are responsible for it. To a certain degree, you do know what is best for your baby.

I've been around long enough to know that owners often have difficulty separating the business's concept from all of the little intricacies that go into the actual production.

By default we think that as business owners we are supposed to be involved in every aspect of our business; that we have to know everything about everything that is involved in the process of the creation of the final product and that's the way it should be if you want to run your own business.

That's completely backward!

This poisonous mindset is actually what costs a lot of small business owners the very thing they are trying to protect-their business!

Step back and look at things from a different perspective. What is the essence of a business? Why did we want to be business owners? Was it the sheer joy of providing fresh bread or superior toilet cleaning services to customers? Or was it the ability to make money doing something we actually liked?

It's the money! It's the profit that we want to receive from our business! That's the main reason we quit our jobs and become entrepreneurs!

We need to consider in advance if the business is going to make money or are we just hoping that if we do what we do-whether cleaning floors, building houses, or baking bread-the money will flow in.

Ultimately, your task as an entrepreneur is to invest available recourses at a rate of return that exceeds your cost.

That's where it gets tricky! What is your cost of all the parts and components of your business? Are you sure you are aware of it? Are you?

Everything has a price and those prices just keep rising. If you don't learn that, you'll never survive! There are no free rides.

Know where this road's headed? You got it, the value of your time!

The inability or unwillingness to stick a concrete price on the time they spend running their business can cut the legs out from under any entrepreneur before they even get started. They seem to forget that if somebody was paying them to do all of the things that they do, they'd be making a pretty good chunk of change. For some reason, everyone thinks that if they do something themselves, the labor is somehow free. Nobody thinks ahead that far but the issue would never even come up if owners budgeted for every aspect of their business before-hand.

Haven't you met business-owners who never has time available or money available because "You know, we run our own business, things are tough?"

Things are not supposed to be tough unless you make them this way!

The key is having an accurate budget. Allowing time and funding for an accountant? How about a cleaning service? You've at least got a receptionist, right? How about a loading-unloading crew? What, you thought it wouldn't cost you anything if you did it yourself?

Everything has a cost associated with it, your time included!

As an average small business owner you want to make average small business money, right? It should be high six- low seven- figures per year, on average $1,000,000.00 per year (according to John Assaroff), or $420.00 per hour!

So, every time you do anything for your business other than making a decision, you should ask yourself: "Can I buy it for less then $420.00 per hour?" and if you can - you should!

Another problem is - what if you can't? Then you have to be honest with yourself - your business idea does not have enough upside to support itself and you should immediately abandon it! And by "immediately" I mean IMMEDIATELY!

After all we start our own business to eliminate things that we don't like about being employed by somebody else: lack of financial freedom, lack of geographical freedom, lack of ability to spend time with our family, lack of ability to travel, lack of ability to contribute.

If we don't get to experience all this, then why bother?

Robert Kiyosaki explains the difference between a business and a job this way: if you can leave it for a year and find it still running and even grown when you come back - it's a business, if it dies the next day you leave - it's a job!

So when we are talking about home based business we should be open to the idea of delegating most of the activities to outsourcers: article and press-release writing and submission, link building, social media communications, message boards and forums postings, content development and distribution, etc.

It's not about loosing control, it's about gaining control! You are the brain, you are the brand! Let somebody else execute your ideas! After all you want the benefits, not just a feeling of involvement! Keeping the big picture in mind is what it takes to build a large organization.

Do what you are the best at - business development and strategizing - and let somebody else handle all the technical details.

I remember, in the beginning of my real estate investing I was flipping houses: you buy a falling apart house, fix it up and sell hopefully making some money at the end. I was trying to do everything myself, because you can't let somebody else mess it up! It's my baby! Nobody else can hang drywall better than I can and nobody can install a new toilet the unique way I do it!

It took me such a long time to finish each and every house and when the potential buyers cam round, all they did was nitpick the place and complain. They never noticed all of the hard work that went into bringing the house back from the grave. It was just another house on their list to visit that day.

And at some point I partnered up with a group of people who had been flipping houses for quite a while as well and, seeing how attached I get to the house we were renovating, they shared with me their approach: they would actually make an effort not to be at the property during the renovation process, they actually hired a project manager to supervise the process and to avoid the need for them to be at the property. They were subbing out everything, focusing only on acquisition and selling aspects of the business. This approach allowed them to avoid falling in love with each property and to become the biggest company on the market within literally a few months!

I have another great example for you.

Back home, in Russia, we have this belief that has been around for decades: you have to grow your own potatoes, because if you do it yourself - it's free. I'm not joking!

Financial background didn't matter at all. Everybody planted their own potatoes! It takes a lot of effort to plant potatoes in the spring and harvest them in the fall when you're doing all the work by hand!

I kept asking my parents why don't we just buy potatoes at the store (they were obviously very inexpensive) and they would keep telling me that if we grow them ourselves they are free!

I was still young but something about that struck me as wrong. I just couldn't figure why everybody was working so hard for a few potatoes when they could buy them for pennies a pound!

Finally, when I had gone off to college, harvest time came around. I told my family not to worry about the harvest, that I could handle it myself. "Are you sure" they asked. I could tell they were really feeling awkward about it because harvesting your own crop was "the in thing." "Sure," I said. "I can handle it."

There was a place in town where bums hung around a lot. I went there, paid a few of them a fare wage for a day's work, and the potatoes were all out of the ground before dark.

I don't think I ever told my family what happened, because it would be almost a crime, what I did!

Plus, they were so proud of me!

And, eventually, in college, I learned that I was right, when I read in the book the words that I remember by heart: "A world of individual self-sufficiency would be a world with extremely low living standards. Trade allows people to specialize in activities they can do well and to buy from others goods and services they can not easily produce. Specialization and trade go hand in hand because there is no motivation to achieve gains from specialization without being able to trade goods and services produced for goods and services desired. That's why economists use the term "gains from trade" to embrace the results of both."

So I was right!

It sounds like poetry to me!

Once again: you don't have to do everything in your business and you don't have to be good at everything in your business!

As John Assaroff told me: "Hire people who play at what you have to work."

The faster you learn how to delegate, the faster you will get to develop your business to the point where you can finally move to Costa Rica, learn how to surf and get to spend day after day on the beach with your family relaxing and drinking those fruity drinks with little umbrellas!

You are a business owner! That's what you do: you own your business!

Let somebody else handle the technical aspects and that's when you will experience the freedom you started your business for in the first place!

It's Not Your Fault That You Are Afraid To Join GRN

By Pavel Becker

A business owner--a guy who owns his own thing. That person that radiates a feeling of wealth, freedom from having to report to a boss, freedom from having to go to work, a guy driving that nice car and living in that nice house. We say about him: "Sure, he can afford it, he has his own business!" or "Obviously, he runs his own business!"

But why, if we know that owning your own business is the only true way to be successful and self-reliant are we so scared to take even consider building our own?

Think that isn't true? Ask some of your friends to go into business with you as partners-but be prepared to hear all of the excuses why they can't. And be prepared to hear them tell you exactly why your business is going to fall on its face even though they have no experience running a business and probably don't even know anybody who does.

Why do we act this way? What happened in our past that we've become so conditioned to fail? Why is the failure so obvious and understandable for us? When has it become a default outcome of any situation?

It's a complicated question with a complicated answer. Let's break it down.

The entire concept of our education, known as The Prussian System, is training, including skills and the mindset that a student receives in order to become an employee.

We learn in school and in life in general that we have to fit in, and to do that we need jobs. So we find one, slave away for peanuts, and hope that we won't have to leach off our children when we retire forty or fifty years down the road.

It's classic reward-anticipation behavior-like Pavlov's dogs. To advance in life, we are taught that we need to be a good employee and provide hard work for our betters.

We are told that there is nothing un-dignifying about that, quite opposite, receiving a pat on the back and a few bucks from your boss is a good thing, mainly because this is the only way to make a living.

What happened to your childhood dreams of being an astronaut, a fighter pilot, or a deep sea diver? When did you start thinking that being a desk jockey was an acceptable replacement for those dreams?

We forget our dreams because we are repeatedly reminded that they are impractical. How can we make money doing those things? How can we support our families? How can we be productive members of society?

Before you know it you are already employed by somebody and already complaining about not being able to afford the lifestyle you want and the things you want. Few years down the road it becomes normality for you and next thing you know you are teaching you kids to follow your steps.

You know it's true. You're parents shaped you into what you are today just as you are shaping your children. But what will happen if you break that cycle and turn your future around?

By working for yourself you can take your life back and regain the future you always wanted.

Stepping into the unknown is always frightening. We are afraid when confronted with a situation we don't fully understand, and right now you don't understand much about owning a business.

Especially something like an Internet based business, with all the hype and rumors about it!

That's where the "Comfort Zone" comes to play.

How do we learn anything in life?

There is only one way - repetition. Remember, you try to write, it looks awful in the beginning, but you keep re-writing the same word over and over and become good at it. By now you don't even think how to do it, you just know.

Any new skill is learned that way, no matter what it is.

That repetition is what makes us become who we become.

Maybe the only thing that gets you through your day is thinking that the position you are in now is only temporary. You drag yourself to work early in the morning, smile and make jokes with a boss you don't respect and don't really care for, you listen to your co-workers as they gripe about the same things that keep you up at night, all the time dreaming of that big break you're going to get a little ways down the road.

One day you realize that you've become a typical representative of people of your occupation: a guy driving particular car, eating particular food, dressing at a particular store, the guy whose income level is whatever it is, $45,000 a year, plus or minus 10 - 15%.

Through repetition you learn action, behavior, and thoughts that will define you for the rest of your life. Your actions, behavior, and thoughts will separate the world into two parts: familiar and not familiar.

You'll always feel comfortable doing familiar things but when you attempt anything unfamiliar your body delivers a dose of adrenalin to your brain and makes you feel anxious.

A minuscule amount of this substance will dictate your actions, the decisions you make and ultimately your destiny!

Tony Robbins once said, "It's in the moment of making a decision when the destiny is formed!"

It is that feeling of discomfort that comes from doing anything new that will keep you from stepping out of your routine and toward the life you really want to live.

And everyone you know will help you stay on that familiar track.

Your income is an average income of seven of your closest friends. Look around yourself: you don't hang out with anybody making significantly less than you, because you don't quite understand their lifestyle, and you don't hang around people making significantly more than you because you don't have anything in common either.

Ask any of them about starting a new business venture and earning six figures a year and you'll get blank stares, excuses, recipes for failure, and panic. They don't know anything about any of that and can't help you get there either. All you'll hear is that it just won't work, that stuff like that never really happens.

The worst part is you'll take their opinion as fact, more often than not, because it represents the path of least resistance-it's much easier to keep doing what you are doing than to succeed at anything new.

Thich Nhat Hanh wrote something hundreds of years ago but he could just as well have written them today: "people are having a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of fear of the unknown they prefer suffering that is familiar." Sound a little bit like you?

So, there you are, after having heard about Global Resorts Network, after having watched numerous testimonials, after having studied everything about this business, you are still sitting there and worrying: "What if I still don't know something, what if there is something I need to find out before I get started, what if, what if, what if"

Here is a story for you.

Before my first Tae Kwon Do tournament fight I went to my instructor, Master Shilkaitis, and told him that though I wanted to compete, but I wasn't sure that I was ready. He told me that I "would never feel one hundred percent ready. It's just a matter of finding the strength and desire to win and overcoming your fear."

In that fight, I took third place by knocking my opponent cold but I was so frightened at the time that I still don't remember it even happening.

Having me talk to you all day won't do any good. Either you will decide to take the next step or you will fall back into your old comfortable ways and never stray outside your comfort zone.

Nothing will change on its own! If you continue doing what you've been doing, you will continue getting the results you've been getting!

Choose to change today!

It will be scary in the beginning, it will feel very uncomfortable and strange, but that's when you know that you are changing things!

You want success, you want money, you want recognition - make a decision!

Maybe the next time you hear someone's jealous remarks about being able to afford those fancy things, they'll be talking about you!

4 Reasons To Use Articles to Get Pasive Streams of Free Traffic

By Henry Zeng

As you may already have heard that, submitting articles to article websites is a "fool proof" way to get targeted traffic & make passive income. So here I list 4 reasons why you should use article marketing to get passive streams of targeted traffic for free.

1. You get a lot of high quality backlinks from article sites. As you get a lot of one-way links pointed at your site containing your keywords, you will probably rank well for most search engines if you done well.

2.Your author resource box at the end of the body of your articles acts as an advertisement when millions of people who are reading your articles.

People who read your articles and click on your links in your resource box at the end of each of your articles are highly-qualified prospects that are interested in your articles so that they will be also interested in your sites.

3.Most of the article sites allow publishers reprint articles to their newsletters or websites.

So you can expect to receive free targeted traffic when publishers who pick up your articles and reprint them on ezines or blogs.

4.You boosts your personal and business credibility when your articles published.

You become known as the expert by your article and this endears potential customers to you before they even visit your sites. There is no better way to "pre-sell" your prospects than article marketing.

Summary

You can see that you don't need any capital to set your article system up - unlike some of other paid ways.

But remind yourself to be consistent. Most people try something for a brief period of time, and when they don't see results immediately, they often discard it. You may be the exception. If you are, you will see dramatic results.

Article marketing IS a time-consuming tactic, you won't see results overnight. But it provides results for long term - you will be rewarded with free, targeted traffic for years.

How to Use Viral Real Estate Marketing on MySpace

By Dr. Matthew Loop

No, viral marketing isn't like a computer virus, but it is a marketing tactic that spreads like a virus from person to person. Catch the drift? This is powerful marketing at its best, and Web 2.0 is the hot breeding ground.

It is otherwise known as "buzz marketing," but viral marketing just refers to any trick or strategy to establish buzz, while getting other individuals to market you product or service for you. This is all done with no extra effort on your behalf. This can be extremely effective for real estate professionals like investors, realtors, agents, brokers and it's very lucrative.

Take for example sending an email, bulletin, or message concerning a thought about real estate to about 100 people, and having 15% of the recipients pass it on to 100 people and 15% of those folks do the same, etc. Do you see how this pyramid effect extends to hundreds of thousands of people?

This is the magic of viral marketing, spreading your word to more consumers than you ever thought possible. You aren't going to believe the power that you have when you market your business this way. Like a religion, you'll be converting people to your message, and they will then spread that message to others.

The key way of doing this is by tapping into the massive popularity of online games, videos, graphics, and the like on social media powerhouse sites like MySpace to create a huge base of online friends and members.

Take advantage of this viral approach when you send out any messages, bulletins, comments and blogs into the market. My training series is comprised of 30 easy-to-follow videos that will take you step by step to your own success in real estate, chiropractic practice, network marketers and so many more.

In actuality, I caution you against marketing directly on any of your profiles, as it can come across as "spammy" and will quickly turn your potential real estate prospects off. Additionally, MySpace will also delete your account, flag your email and take your IP address so you cannot participate on the network again.

On the reverse, it's good to have a profile that will draw a massive friends list, and accomplish this in minimal time. From there, you can then market softly to the friends you've acquired.

Do head lice spread in clothes, hats etc?
A head louse could be transferred by a hat or scarf but this is a very minor transmission risk. They have to be on humans to survive so they are highly unlikely to make the mistake of climbing onto anything other than another head in the first place! Anything other than a head generally means death to a head louse. Obviously you can avoid this risk by not sharing hats and brushes tc but it is not a huge risk in the first place. Some racetracks carry our hats seasonally. How To Know The Best Place To Advertise Online

By Don Bethune

This thought aHow to know the best place to advertise onlinea is something I have pondered over many times. My husband and I are looking to see if we can get some free website traffic since we are in the process of starting our own business online.

There are so many companies that offer either increased website traffic or some free website traffic. But the demographical choice of where you place the ads are based on the product. If the company that will be creating potential traffic for our business isn't knowledgeable with the product that we are selling, we will end up loosing money through advertising and loss of revenue.

What we need is a company that will take the chance of selling us advertising package without any apprehension. After all if we trust them enough to invest our money then in turn they should also believe in our business enough to advertise without the limitations of demographical locations.

I would like to find a company, like the very well known car insurance company that says, \"If we can save you money, we'll find someone that can\". I would like to find a advertising business that has many different specialties in what product category they advertise for.

I do believe that the first step in this transaction is to have a good mutual understanding of what we want to be advertised. With this understanding I would like to be offered a free trial of some kind. This would show a good faith effort on the advertising company that we are doing business with. It would show they believe they can produce good increased website traffic.

Really the fact is as with anyone that starting and managing our own business is full enough of its own risk. Considering that we are not comfortable to just to pick an advertising company at random from the phone book. Simply put that is not a risk we are willing to take.

The risk of advertising with a company that can't produce enough traffic is almost as scary as a company that can handle the ad, but they just don't have a good feel for who this type of business is geared to.

This all brings me back to the same question aCan I know how to find the best advertising online?a With all of this in mind we came to the conclusion that the only real way to find out is to listen to what others are saying. This is especially true of those who have there own businesses and have gone through this same process. The fact is that in the long run we will have to be willing to take a chance on what they say.
