How to build responsive list in 4 easy steps

By Martin Hancock

When you have an online business it is crucial that you grow a responsive list. A list of purchasers, subscribers or newsletter readers that are keen to know what you have to say and give. Below is the outline of what you need to do to build your list and make it responsive to your emails.

1 " Opt-in form " An opt-in form is somewhere that a visitor to your website can enter their name and email address usually in exchange for something. You need to place some html code on your website for this to happen and can get this code from an auto responder service. This may sound technical but there are a few services available and you dont have to have technical knowledge to install it.

2 " Traffic - Now you have your form up and running on your website you need to drive traffic to it. There are several ways to do this including pay per click, blog and forum posting, video marketing and of course article marketing. There are lots more but these will do to start.

3 " Incentive " Once a visitor arrives at your website you will need to offer them something of value in exchange for their contact details. This can be a free report you have written or have rights to that will be relevant to your audience. It must be good so that you can appear to be someone worth listening too.

4 " Build a relationship " For your list to be responsive you need to gain their trust and admiration. Always be yourself as this will attract many more followers because if you try to deceive you will be caught out. Videos and regular blogging will show your true self and is a great way for you to gain trust with your list.

These four steps are the foundation on which you need to build a responsive list. Out of the four steps two stick out as being very important, driving traffic and building a relationship with them. Dont be put off it is easier than you think and there is help available.
