Professional Blogging

By Marenda

Professional blogging is a new field which offers a lot of possibilities for entrepreneurs who have vision, determination and a solid handle on the latest technologies. There are as yet relatively few professional bloggers, with an even smaller number of people who are able to make a living from the proceeds of their blog. There is however an increasing number of people who are looking to monetize their blogs as a way to supplement their income. While it is hard to predict if this trend will continue over the long term, professional bloggers are growing more numerous.

There are a lot of bloggers who are excited by the possibility of blogging for profit. After all, many of these bloggers spend more than an hour a day updating their blog for no financial reward whatsoever; if they could build some sort of revenue stream for their efforts, they certainly would do so. There are a few viable ways of making money from a blog; the most common of these is to sell ad space on one's blog either through the popular Google AdSense program or directly to a company which wants to target the niche which reads the blog. The number of people able to support themselves solely through the sale of ad space on their blog, however, is very small.

A majority of blog readers are themselves bloggers, given that those who use the platform themselves are the most likely to have an interest in what other bloggers are doing. This is one of the reasons that the most successful bloggers, at least in the financial sense are those who have invested a lot of time in learning and writing about blogging itself.

It is certain that as the technologies used in blogging progress and the numbers of bloggers increase that professional blogging is going to become far more complex than it is today. Currently the bloggers who are seeing the greatest measure of financial success are those who address blogging and bloggers directly, especially those who offer advice to newcomers. However, as the demographics of bloggers and their audience shifts, blogs (especially professional blogs) will have to change as well to keep pace.

While it is still uncertain what the future of professional blogging looks like, this is a large part of its appeal to the technologically minded and determined entrepreneurs who have taken up professional blogging.
