How To Sell With Article Marketing: Aim For The Right Goals

By Neeraj Varma

To be truthful, you aren't going to sell much from article marketing if you don't achieve all of the goals of an articles in each article you write.

In order to get people to click on your link and buy from you, you need to achieve the seven goals of article marketing. I'll give you all the details in subsequent articles. This article will outline them for you so you know in a general way.

1. Attract The Attention Of Your Reader.

There are two things to consider in attracting your prospective customer's attention so strongly that they "just have to" read your article. First you need to settle on a topic that your reader is craving to know more about. Second you have to quickly and clearly communicate what your topic will be in the headline and first couple of sentences.

2. Make Sure Your Prospect Reads The Wole Article.

Once you have attracted interest you need to say something that they didn't know before or in a way that they had never heard it before. This is called the "news value" of an article. There's no need for anyone to read your article if you aren't providing any real reason to continue reading.

3. Gain Your Prospect's Respect By The Time They Finish Reading The Article.

Whatever you say in your article should sound credible. Quite often you will be in a situation where you disagree with the commonly held views of your audience. If you just blurt out your disagreement, people will get turned off and they will stop reading. Make sure whatever you say is solid and believeable. Gradually lead people to the conclusion you want them to come to. Always start off being credible and keep your comments credible as your article leads people to a new conclusion that they may not have accepted at the beginning.

4. Make It So Your Reader Feels Like You Understand Them By The Time They Finish The Article.

This is something that most article marketing courses skip altogether. You need to establish rapport with your reader or they will never buy what you recommend. The idea of building rapport is the first step in any successful sales presentation. Every salesman learns this on his first day on the job. Joe Vitale calls this "maintaining their trance". Robert Collier calls this "staying in step with the conversation going on in their mind".

5. Make Your Article Worth Spending Time On

Reward the reader for spending time reading your article. If the reader feels they learned something valuable from you they will thank you by following your advice to click on your affiliate link. The more value you provide the better.

6. Orient The Reader To Want To Buy The Product You Will Ultimately Recommend.

The basis of all successful article marketing is called pre-selling. You should never sell directly in your article. That's what the sales page is for. Your article should provide insight so the reader gains a better appreciation of the features of the product you will be selling.

7. Motivate Them To Click On Your Site-Link In The Resource Box.

This is the simplest goal to achieve if you have successfully achieved the previous goals. All you have to do is ask them to click on the link provided. Just make sure you ask for them to take action. You always have to ask for a specific action or they won't click on the link.

Writing profitable articles is a matter of getting people to click on your link when they are pre-disposed to making a purchase. When your articles achieve all of the goals presented here it is more of a science than an art. Just follow the steps and you will be amazed at the results.

I'll go into great detail for each step in subsequent articles so you know exactly what to write in your own articles.
