Presenting Your Crafts in Florida

By Sam Weyland

Florida has always been a favorite vacation spot in the United States; and why not? Our Sunshine State's warm weather makes it an ideal place of relaxation. The prominence of beaches makes your stay here a lot more fun, and the various fairs and festivals are common all year round.

Some of you may wish to begin a small business in this state, one that utilizes your skill. Why not earn a little extra, after all? if this is the case, then perhaps the best way that you'll spend your time in Florida is by joining these festivals. All you have to do is have some craft to sell, whether a knack for carving or a skill with cooking, go to the event organizer, and set up a booth. Sounds easy, yes?

Actually, it's not too easy, and like all lines of business, will require work on your part, starting with the production of your wares to begin with. I know someone who makes accessories for fairs; bracelets, necklaces, bangles, earrings, and the like. Nothing fancy and expensive; perfect for beach wear. She spends a good portion of her time making these accessories; and if you plan on doing this, you should, too.

And then, you'll have to contact the organizer for such events. As you will be renting the area, you will need to pay them an amount to set up a booth. Make sure that you understand all the little details when working out an arrangement; some organizers provide chairs and tables, and others don't. Some would ask for a percentage of your sale. It's better if you are aware of these things beforehand, rather than be surprised after the fair.

Once there, it is imperative for you to be able to present your crafts properly. You can't just set up your crafts on the table, sit down, and wait for the customers to buy. You have to make it appealing to them, even if you do it via simple means. Putting tablecloth on the three visible sides of a table, or putting clothing racks if that's what you're selling, becomes an important toll towards helping you earn.
